The Meadow, the game's first mission, in isometric view: a white Vanguard Fabricator Core and Refinery on an old concrete pad, a Gleaner harvesting a glowing field of amber sunresin crystals, Riflemen on watch, Skitterlings creeping in from the east, and a ruined mall up the road.

I2147 · The world ended

The Skim

In 2147, a microscopic black hole passed dangerously close to Earth.

The event, known as The Skim, devastated the atmosphere, leaving much of the planet exposed to deadly cosmic radiation.

Civilization collapsed, and humanity stood on the brink of extinction.

IIOur last hope

Project VERDANT

Our last hope was Project VERDANT — a genetically engineered fungus inspired by radiation-resistant organisms discovered in high-radiation zones.

Designed to thrive where nothing else could, it

  1. absorbed radiation,
  2. restored poisoned soil,
  3. and formed a powerful symbiosis with surviving plants.
The same Earth a century later, empty of people: summer meadows full of wildflowers, woods closing over an old crossroads, trees growing from the roof of an abandoned mall, clear ponds and fields of glowing sunresin crystals.

It worked.

IIIThe Bloom

Over the next century, Earth transformed into a lush green paradise.

  1. An abandoned mall with trees growing out of its roof, its parking lot cracked and green.
Field survey · the old retail parkForests swallowed cities,
  2. A cracked two-lane road running through meadow full of wildflowers, past quiet houses.
Field survey · the old highwaywildflowers covered highways,
  3. A field of glowing amber sunresin crystals beside a clear pond, ringed by forest and pink blossom trees.
Field survey · a crystal field by the pondand life flourished once more.

But the miracle came at a price.

IVThe Price

Exposed to decades of cosmic radiation, VERDANT began to mutate.

Its fungal networks evolved the ability to infect animals, reshape their bodies, and control their instincts.

Wildlife became monstrous, aggressive, and connected through vast underground colonies.

The Crownwild

  • A pack of five Skitterlings: small coral and violet spider-like creatures, one with its mandibles open.Specimen 01

    Skitterling

Small, frighteningly fast pack hunter grown by Crownwild nests.

  • A Seed Nest: a swollen coral mass veined with amber, ringed by violet pods and spines.Specimen 02

    Seed Nest

A young Crownwild nest. Breeds Skitterlings and grows bolder the more it is disturbed.

These colonies grew into nests.

An isometric meadow where a Seed Nest sits in a spreading pool of violet creep. Two young nests have budded off it, one across an old road; Skitterlings roam around them and toward a house at the edge.

And the nests began to spread.

VReclamation

Now we fight to keep it.

Now, humanity’s reclamation forces must venture beyond the safety of their settlements, establish bases, harvest resources, and push back the growing infestation.

  1. A Vanguard base in white ceramic and cyan light: the domed Fabricator Core with two Energy Cores and an Infantry Complex.

Fabricator Core · Energy Cores · Infantry Complex

    Build01

Deploy your MCV into a Fabricator Core; its drones print whatever you place beside your buildings, and upgrades add more drones. The Infantry Complex trains Riflemen; the Vehicle Factory rolls out Medium Tanks.

  2. A six-wheeled Gleaner with its claw down and its hopper full, working a field of glowing amber sunresin crystals.

    Gleaner · Sunresin crystals

    Harvest02

Gleaners gather sunresin crystals and haul them to a Refinery automatically, wherever the fields still glow.

  3. Two Pulse Turrets, one firing, with two Riflemen shooting lasers beside them.

    Pulse Turrets · Riflemen

    Defend03

Pulse Turrets cut down Skitterling swarms. Keep enough Energy Cores running, or they fall silent.

  4. Two Medium Tanks, one firing its plasma cannon, advancing with a squad of Riflemen.

    Medium Tanks · Riflemen

    Reclaim04

Find the Seed Nest and destroy it. Every harvest near it, and every shot fired at it, makes it angrier.

But destroying VERDANT entirely is not an option.

After all, it’s still the reason we can breathe.

VIOne Earth

Earth is green again. Humanity survived. But the survivors disagree about what comes next.

Territory, resources, and the technology that restored the atmosphere have become reasons for war.

And now a third kind of humanity has appeared.

The factions

  1. 01

    Vanguard

    Order. Science. Survival.

The military heirs of the scientists who restored Earth. Advanced technology, precision weapons, sophisticated defenses.

They believe protecting civilization requires control over the technology that keeps Earth alive.

  2. 02

    Iron Pact

    Freedom. Steel. Firepower.

Independent settlements united against centralized control. Industrial, resourceful, fiercely free.

Heavy tanks, artillery and rugged machines, built from reclaimed technology.

  3. 03

    The Bound

    Adapt. Evolve. Endure.

Something new has emerged from VERDANT. The fungus has begun infecting humans. Some appear to have embraced it. Others may have had no choice.

They think. They build. They command terrifying creatures.

Nobody knows exactly what they want.

The CrownwildUncontrolled. Unrelenting.

The infected wildlife and their nests still spread across the world, a threat to every faction. The Bound may share their biology. They do not necessarily control them.
